Project18 aims to make a difference for lost, abandoned and neglected animals. We support dedicated animal rescue organisations in and around Cape Town by donating food so that no animal goes hungry, sponsoring vaccines so no animal gets sick, and by donating pet care products so each animal can be properly cared for until they find their FURever home.
WHERE IT STARTED
Hello there, my name is Blake Pittaway.
I have decided to start this donations page as I strive to make a difference and positive impact in the community. I volunteer for the NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute) and thus giving back to my community is essential to me.
Three months before my 18th birthday I was still not quite sure what I wanted to do to celebrate this day with my family and friends. I did not want to have a party neither celebrate the typical way people do when stepping into adulthood. I decided that I would instead use the money gained from presents to support local charities in the Melkbosstrand area. This sparked the beginning of my drive to collect animal food donations for Fallen Angels.
I hope to make a difference in the lives of these animals who have been through so much to finally end up at Fallen Angels and to improve their lives in any way I possibly can. I wanted it to be a truly memorable celebration where I could not only get my family and friends involved but the community.
There is a quote that I was told by a role model of mine, that I live by on a daily basis:
"However I continue to try and continue to indefatigably to reach out. There's no way I can single-handedly save the world or perhaps, even make a perceptible difference. But how ashamed I would be to let a day pass without trying.” So I alone cannot save the world. In this case, in terms of the animals at the organisations we support- but with your help, I can definitely try to make a perceptible difference.
